2. RE-SHAPING: all damaged and vulnerable areas are re-shaped and
re-surfaced using our unique jointing, filling and caulking techniques.
These techniques have been developed to allow for natural timber and joint
movement, ensuring the repairs remain stable.
3. PREVENTION: by specializing, we have
accumulated the experience and
expertise to diagnose how the rot or weather damage occurred. We
have
developed preventive methods for all possible cases. Most rot begins
by
moisture getting into timber joints, end grain, cracks and under
paint, thus
creating the conditions for the fungal activity that causes rot to
occur.
On windows this typically occurs in the sill joints, at the bottom
of sashes,
behind glazing beading or putty and under paint no longer well adhered
to
the wood.
