Stop the Rot supports and encourages a community where every LGBTI+ person feels not only safe but proud of who they are. Sponsoring important local events like the Pride Round aligns to our company values and is important for our local community.

Inclusion, tolerance and acceptance are key values for the culture of Stop the Rot.  These values are reinforced in our weekly meetings where we gather to discuss how we repair timber windows and doors and how we deal with rot in your home.  Sponsorship of the Red Hill Football Netball Club Pride Round was the perfect opportunity to publicise these value systems and structures within our organization while using this platform to stop the rot and start a conversation in the community around inclusion, acceptance and education.

When RHFNC President Graham Sherry and Vice President Mark ‘Hoppo’ Hopkinson offered Stop the Rot the opportunity to sponsor this event for the next few years, my immediate response was first yes…we then discussed the details.

Pride Cup is an initiative that has grown enormously since the first game out in Yarra Glen in 2012.  Over 250 clubs are involved in a Pride Cup event across a wide array of sporting codes, from footy, to hockey, roller derby to lawn bowls, netball, water polo and more! Red Hill Football Netball Club with the support of Stop the Rot has now added the Women’s Senior Team, the Netball Teams and the Men’s Senior teams to the Pride Cup

The Pride Cup helps to bring real change to our local communities.  Homophobic language in sporting clubs is reduced by up to 40% when a Pride Cup event and education session is held. These impacts ripple out into the wider community, making entire communities safer and more inclusive for our LGBTI+ members.

Stop the Rot technicians will be available at the ground for the entire day discussing with supporters, fans, players, friends and families from both teams what Stop the Rot does, how we repair windows and doors and why our 9 Step Process is world best practice.
